God, it feels like we've been writing about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum for about 100 years. The PS5 and PS4 fantasy adventure, in which you play as the titular freak, has been delayed more times than we care to remember, but it's apparently, finally locked in for release at some point between April and September 2023. That's per publisher Nacon's latest earnings report.
You may remember that in the summer of last year, Gollum was hit with a delay that pushed it back by "a few months" — and this was after it had ditched its previous 1st September 2022 release date. Here's hoping that developer Daedalic Entertainment is on track this time around.
What are your hopes for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum? Will you be happy to see it finally release later this year? Catch some fish with your bare hands in the comments section below.

Still seems like a weird choice for a game.
Gollum? why?
Has anyone ever wanted to play a game as Gollum?
What's next, Grima Wormtongue: The video game?
It does look a bit PS2 in concept. Like that whole ‘franchise-adjacent’ spin-off deal.
NOOOOOOOO!!!! Do not want this game my precious, my love WE HATES IT, WE HATES IT!!!
Trailers so far haven't sold me. But you never know. I'll wait for the gameplay reveal.
@mus422 honestly even that might be more interesting
they should have cancelled this project years ago. response has been unanimously negative and what we've seen in previews looks awful
I'm kinda looking forward to it, can't be worse than those awful openworld LOTR games we had last gen.
This is going to flop so hard.
Yay, a game based on an unlikeable character from an overrated IP that had its heyday two decades ago. Oh AND it's cross-gen, so the core game was built around the limitations of low-powered hardware from 2013. Just save money now and cancel the game.
Forgot about this game and had to watch a trailer again. Wow, this looks terrible and boring. Who the heck thought this was a good idea?
The best part about this game is going to be watching Rob from Playstation Access play it and do his Gollum impression the entire stream. Besides that, this game doesn't look good at all lol.
@mus422 Sure, I'd love to play from Gollum's POV if the game is good but this looks like anything but.
The PS2 just called and said it wants lost LotR game back.
..."Gotham Knights..."Suicide Squad"..."Gollum"...massive IP's and games no one wants.
I'll be shocked if this game is good
Lol...Like anyone cares about this game anyway 🙃
@mus422 Right? This game just proves that anything can happen lmao
Loved the old school LOTR games on the PS2. This game though just doesn't appeal to me. Having Gollum as the main character just seems like a very odd choice. Keeping my fingers crossed though hopefully it turns out well and is a fun game.
@QBGaming12
Rob has this weird ability to make almost any game he plays or talks about seem better than it actually is.
I don't hate the concept, the game just looks awful.
@darthvirgin can all but guarantee you’re a Star Wars fan taking about an overrated IP
@Shaun2018098 sorry to disappoint you but I haven’t liked a Star Wars thing since I was a teen, and certainly not a Star Wars game since Dark Forces.
I will be shocked if this game doesn't bomb, assuming it ever finally releases...
